Choose Template
1. From the main menu select: Seup > Data Import > Template Import.
2. From the menu on the right choose your test or standards template and download.
Prepare Template
3. Open the template file using Microsoft Excel:
- Read the instructions at the top.
- Do not change anything in rows 1-4, meaning you will start adding your information on row 5.
- Do not add any columns or any text to any colored area of the template.
- Follow these directions or the import may fail.
- When you have had a good look at the template be sure to delete the examples on lines 5-7 or 5-8. Please delete the entire rows, not just the cell information.
4. If copying and pasting information into the template please use Paste Special to ensure you do not paste formatting or corrupt data into the template.
5. All columns in green are required columns to import the spreadsheet into Oases.
6. To import tests you will need test ID's. You can export lists of ID's from the template import page.
Import Your Template
7. On the import page ensure the correct program or district is selected and click in the relevant upload area.
Template Imports Trouble Shooting
8. Sometimes an import to Oases will encounter a data issue. You will be presented with a red error code directing you to the source of the problem.
- Read the red error code carefully and correct your import template spreadsheet accordingly.
- If you are still having import problems please check the following points:
- When you deleted out the test rows of sample information, usually rows 5,6 and 7, ensure you deleted the entire row from excel rather than deleting cell information. To do this highlight the row number on the left by clicking on it, right click and delete the entire row.
-Do not delete the hidden row after the titles (usually row 4).
-Do you have information in each of the green columns (required info) for every row.
-If you are copying and pasting from another spreadsheet, copy and paste a column at a time. If the spreadsheet you are copying from and the Oases import spreadsheet happen to have identical columns next to each other, do not be tempted to copy and paste them both over at once. This can copy formatting that could cause the upload to fail.
-When copying from another spread sheet and you are ready to paste into the oases import spreadsheet, instead of selecting paste, select 'paste special' then 'values or values only', to prevent any hidden formatting or corruption from being copied.
-Do not add additional columns.
-Use the correct oases ID numbers when requested. These can be found under the templates, go to: Setup | Data Import | Import Students etc | Select the District | Lower Right Hand Side of page.
-Make sure there is no additional text. For example a student who is in third grade should have a 3 in the grade column not 3rd.
-Ensure you have followed directions in the header rows, sometimes you will add numbers to represent yes or no or male or female.
-Make sure you don't have information in both columns of an either-or column group.
If you are still having problems, please submit a support ticket detailing the program you are experiencing and attach your completed spreadsheet together with the text of any error code.
