Import Time
There is no time to be gained by importing test answers unless the ACT has already been converted to a list of student answers by optical software or other means. If you will be typing the student answers into the template you should enter the student answers directly into Oases following tutorial TP02.
Prepare Template
1. Download and prepare the import template by going to Setup.
2. In the Data Import section select Template Import.
3. Select the Program for which you wish to import data.
4. On the right hand side select and download the Test Results Import Template.
5. Open the import template and save it to your computer with a new name. Review the template and sample data. Green columns are required items and blue columns are optional.
6. When familiar select rows 5 - 10 and right click delete to remove the example data from the template.
7. Add the name of your student/s for whom you wish to import results. There will be 5 rows per ACT test to represent English, Math, Reading, Science & Writing so add the student name 5 times for each ACT. (4 if the writing portion was not attempted)
8. Add the date the test was taken as shown above - Add for each test section in the Test Date column.
Test ID's
9. Add your test ID's for each section. Find your Test Type ID's from the Oases import page beneath the templates.
10. When the ID list opens locate the ACT taken and highlight and copy the Oases Test ID's. In the example below I require the 5 ID's for the ACT 0359F. The image below is an example only and does not necessarily represent the accurate Oases ID's for ACT 0359F in your database.
11. Paste these into the import template next to the relevant student in the Test Type ID column.
12. To ensure you put the student answers in the correct row you may wish to add yourself a note in the comment section.
13. Now copy and paste the student answers into the relevant row for each test.
For the English, Math, Reading & Science sections data entry for the answers the student gave will begin in column M as shown below.
(If you are hand typing them into this template then there is no time to be gained by importing results and entering the answers directly into the student record in Oases will be just as fast see TP02)
14. For the writing portion place the score into column I.
15. In Column A of the template add the student ID from within the student record in Oases.
You will find the ID number on the second tab of the student record in the ID field.
You may also find this number in numerous reports in the report area.
16. Repeat the above process for any other students and test answers that need to be imported. There is no limit to the quantity of data that may be imported on one template. The only restriction is that you import per program so all students on the template must be in the program to which you import.
17. When complete save your template file.
Import Template
