Algorithms
Each SAT test in Oases has a unique scoring algorithm as provided by SAT.
Test Order & Visibility
1. You may change the order the tests are presented on the student test page.
2. Go to Set Up - Tests and drag the tests around to the order required.
3. You may also prevent a test from being displayed in the student test tab by marking it as hidden.
Score the Essay Section Manually
Scoring a Test
4. Open the test tab in the student record.
5. Press New Test and from the drop down select the name of the SAT paper the student has taken or will be taking.
If the student has taken the test on paper and you will be entering the answers select, Enter Answers. If the student will be taking the test now or at home select, Set for Online and refer to Online Tutorial.
6. In the pop up, enter the date the test was taken.
7. Enter the answers the student indicated. Do not enter anything if the student did not attempt the question. You may tab through empty answers.
Math Given Answers
8. The given answer items are in the math sections:
- No Calculator questions 16 through 20.
- Calculator questions 31 thru 38.
9. Enter the student answers into the grid. You will need to tab on to the next field if the answer is more than one digit or not attempted.
Essay Scores
10. At the bottom of the test you will see a space for the essay score that you have scored manually per the SAT instructions. If the student did not take the writing section leave this blank, if not enter your score.
The score will be between 2 and 12 if using the old SAT essay scoring method and 3 scores between 2 and 8 if using the new SAT scoring method. (Reading, Analysis & Writing)
Old Essay Method
11. If you use the old method enter the score for the old method as a single digit.
New Essay Method
12. Enter the new score for Reading, Analysis & Writing, in that order, as shown
below.
13. When all items are entered press Save Answers. Oases will load the student test area with the results for each section of the test shown below.
Edit Answers
14. To change answers entered for the main sections press the test name to make edits.
15. To change the Essay score work directly in the grid.
Produce the SAT Score Report
16. To produce the report press on one of the download icons in the Open column to the left of the test name. Any of the 4 icons will work and collate the full report.
17. Your score report will open in a new tab and can be printed or saved as required.
Learning Plans
18. The SAT Score Report is a stand alone feature in Oases. However, should you wish to create a targeted learning plan from the student's areas of weakness you may allocate Common Core or State Standards to each question or objective in one SAT.
19. You may also load your own SAT specific goals into Oases to associate to an SAT test if required.
One Section Tutoring
20. If you are testing a student on just one or more sections but not the entire test, Oases will not produce the report pages for the blank pages to avoid releasing answers to a student for a section you may use in future.
The front page will however, still show the minimum scores for the missed section.
You may delete empty section rows from the student's test grid without damaging the report production.
