How The MTD is Used
1. When TutorFirst sends out an email to your tutors inviting them to claim an available schedule to be held at a particular location, TutorFirst will only list tutors where the distance from their address to the session address is within their Maximum Travel Distance.
What must be in Place
2. For MTD to work the tutor and the student (or off site session location) must have their address correctly geo-located in their records. You can tell if an address is geo-located as the lat/long coordinates will appear after the address in the record.
3. The MTD must also be recorded in the record of the tutor if the tutor is traveling. Enter 30 to represent 30 miles for example.
- In the staff record for the tutor the MTD is on the Company tab.
- In the student record the MTD is on the Program tab. This is usually used when a student needs to travel due to equipment requirements such as music or swimming lessons.
4. If distance is not a concern (online tutoring for example) just leave the MTD box empty.

5. If when you use Availability to filter suitable tutors for a schedule and nobody appears on the list you can increase the travel distance in the schedule by a percentage to see if anyone is just outside range. Then you can call them to see if they will make an exception. Add a 1 to increase the MTD by 1%.
6. The MTD in a schedule is found in the Create Multiple Sessions area. Left blank only tutors within their MTD will be returned.
Adding a 1 will increase all MTD's by 1% on the next filter. If no tutors are listed, increase to 2 and filter.
