Overview
Create triggers to send or update customer information in MailChimp.
Always start with the Update Trigger so that you can test as you go by saving an existing record. Move to the New record trigger when you have the update working as you will have to create a new record each time you wish to test a new trigger.

Trigger Types
A parent/customer list in MailChimp may be updated in 2 ways:
- Via a Parent Trigger on the parent/customer record in Oases.
- Via a Student Trigger on the student record in Oases.
As you may need to complete groups in MailChimp based on the active status of the student or the subject being studied by the student for whom the customer is responsible, we recommend using the New Student and Updated Student triggers to deliver the parent email information to the parent list in MailChimp.
If there is no student attached to the customer in Oases to trigger the integration use a specific Parent trigger as shown below.
Once students are added then the list will update if you have set your student triggers correctly.
Update Parent/Customer Trigger
1. Go to: Setup > Integrations > MailChimp.
2. In the Triggers Menu Select Update Parent.
3. Select Add Trigger.
4. Name your Trigger.
5. Select your Parent List from the Action List ID. If you do not see your MailChimp list in this menu your MailChimp account is not linked or the correct MailChimp account is not linked.
6. In List Email Address select Customer Email 1.
7. In List First Name select Customer First Name.
8. In List Last Name select Customer Last Name.
9. You cannot add parents to a group in a list based on the status of attached students, for this you would need a Student Trigger. But if a parent has no students attached as they are a prospect you can create a custom field in the parent to add them to your prospect group in MailChimp. Be sure to create a corresponding trigger to remove them when the custom field in Oases is updated.
Add to Group in MailChimp
10. In your Parent Trigger press the blue question mark icon at the top of the trigger to display
your MailChimp group ID's.
11. Double click on the group number and copy just the ID numbers/letters.
12. Paste the number into Group Add field.
13. If the presence of this group means they cannot be members of the other groups, press the question mark icon again and copy the other group numbers to Group Remove. You may add multiple groups separated by a comma if required. You may also leave this area blank and create a separate trigger to remove them from any group when an action occurs in Oases.
Additional Fields
14. Now add any Field Mapping for any custom fields you have created in your MailChimp parent list.
15. In Additional Fields press the plus sign.
16. Change the Oases Field to the field name of the data you wish to transfer as shown below.
17. The next step is to program the destination field in MailChimp with the MailChimp Merge Tag. Open your MailChimp list in MailChimp and select SETTINGS and AUDIENCE FIELDS AND MERGE TAGS.
18. Copy or notate the tag from the field in MailChimp.
19. Paste to the relevant field in your trigger. Repeat for any other custom fields.
Conditionals
20. Optional. The last step is to program the conditional action that will fire this trigger. For this situation it will be parent customer record being saved with the custom field of Science set.
21. Test your trigger before moving on by saving your test parent record making sure there is an email address and you have updated any item that will act as a trigger.
22. Return to SetUp - MailChimp Integration and press Show Interface Log and press details to check the status of your trigger.
23. Check your parent list in MailChimp.
24. Use the pages icon on the trigger to duplicate your trigger and set up for any other sub groups for your group in MailChimp you may have.
